Dermal Fillers

Often called “lunchtime facelifts” because of their convenience, dermal fillers are a quick, minimally invasive solution to signs of aging, facial asymmetry, and a desire for fuller features. These versatile treatments can be used for anything from filling out the lips and cheeks to smoothing out forehead wrinkles or adding more volume around the nose. Whether you’re seeking a more balanced look or a youthful glow, dermal fillers are easily customized to your treatment goals here at NIMS MedSpa.

What Are Dermal Fillers and How Do They Work?

Dermal fillers are a non-invasive way to restore volume to the face and hands. Almost all of oru dermal fillers at NIMS MedSpa are made of a substance resembling gel that contains hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid is responsible for a lot of the natural hydration and elasticity in the skin. By injecting synthetic hyaluronic acide into the skin, we can address wrinkles, refine facial contours, and replenish or add volume.
Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers go beyond what hyaluronic acid fillers can do by stimulating collagen production. The creation of new collagen enhances skin elasticity over time and delivers a lasting lift in the target treatment areas.
The effects are immediately visible after the procedure and can last for several months, sometimes extending up to a year. Over time, the effects gradually diminish as the body metabolizes the fillers.

Types of Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid fillers

NIMS MedSpa mostly offers hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid(HA) fillers draw water molecules to the treated area, moisturizing and firming the skin. Commonly used HA fillers include Juvederm, Restylane, and Revanesse Versa – each of which makes specific fillers for different areas of the face.
Through precise, small injections, dermal fillers elevate and sculpt specific regions, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Hyaluronic acid fillers are most commonly used in aesthetic medicine, and as a substance found in the body, it’s safe for everyone.
Popular uses of hyaluronic acid fillers include adding volume to thin lips, enhancing the cheekbones, filling in lines and wrinkles, and treating the under eye area. They typically last for six months to a year.

Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers

Calcium hydroxylapatite(CaHA) fillers are a little different than HA fillers in that they’re made of little spheres suspended in a gel-like solution. CaHA fillers are designed to stimulate collagen, and tend to produce longer lasting results. CaHA fillers can be very beneficial for people with deeper wrinkles who would like regeneration of new collagen over time. Popular uses of CaHA fillers include restoring contours to the face, correcting severe wrinkles, and adding volume to the hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermal fillers aren’t considered to be that painful. The injection itself may cause some discomfort, in which case your NIMS MedSpa provider can use a local numbing cream.

You may experience bruising, redness, or swelling around the treatment area. These side effects should subside within a day or two of treatment.

Anyone in good health is a good candidate for dermal fillers. Pregnant or breastfeeding women may not be eligible. Discuss the possibility with your NIMS MedSpa provider if you’re pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or have another serious medical condition.
